Tonight We Read Two...

Tonight at bedtime, as my son ran off to retrieve our nightly read, I remembered a book that I purchased a few years ago. This book was read at a conference that I attended some 8 or so years before I made the purchase. I looked for the book for a while then forgot about it. That is until I attended a literary festival at the Aurburn Avenue Research Library last March.

The book, If I Found a Wistful Unicorn, is a wonderful book of poetic verse about love. I wanted to read it and of course he did not. He agreed though to listen as I read, only with the promise of reading his selection next.

The book begins: "If I found a wistful unicorn and brought him to you, all forlorn... Would you pet him?" and continues on asking questions in this fashion. As I read, he layed his head on my shoulder and listened. As I read, coming close to the end, he wanted to know why the female in the illustrations got to ask all the questions...hahaha. I read on reading as if I were asking the questions. In the end, he "got it" and gave me a hug and a kiss before reaching for "his" book.
